I am attorney Stephen I. Leshner and I have practiced law for over 30 years. In 1991, I became a Certified Specialist in Injury and Wrongful Death Litigation and, in 1999, I served as President of the Arizona Trial Lawyers Association. I was also one of two Arizona lawyers designated by the State of Arizona as outside counsel in the Master Settlement Agreement in litigation against tobacco companies and frequently draft articles and give presentations for other lawyers on wrongful death litigation. I take great pride in my significant experience and knowledge of this area of the law.
I Know How to Make Your Story Heard
Over the course of my more than 35 years of practice, I have gathered great insight about what a jury will and won’t respond to. For instance, when a wrongful death case goes to trial, the focus should not be entirely on the person who died, but also on the survivors he or she has left behind. I frame the story to make the jury understand what your loved one meant to you,and how their negligent death has affected your life. For example, I have recovered substantial damages in wrongful death cases, both at settlement and through trial, where the deceased had not seen his loved ones in over ten years. The jury understood that while the survivors had little contact with the deceased, they always looked forward to seeing him and reuniting with him, but now, that chance was lost forever.
Opposing Counsel Knows Me by My Reputation
I only accept cases when I feel confident that I can secure compensation for clients and have also won settlements in cases that other lawyers had deemed impossible. Opposing counsel knows that when we meet at trial or the negotiating table, I always present a strong and compelling argument on behalf of my clients.
